VANCOUVER SUN JANUARY 26, 2013

Tofino has always been one of B.C’s best in-province secret stay-cations but it seems the secret is out and it’s being recognized as a destination for world travellers.

Tourism Tofino announced this week that Chesterman Beach Bed and Breakfast has been chosen as the No. 1 B&B in Canada, and Long Beach Lodge Resort and the Wick-aninnish Inn ranked in the list of the top 25 Canadian hotels in TripAdvi-sor’s recent Travellers’ Choice 2013 awards.

In its 11th year, the awards have identified the most outstanding properties worldwide, in the categories of Top Hotels, Luxury, Bargain, Service, Small Hotels, and B&Bs and Inns.

“As Tofino’s visitor-based economy continues to grow and thrive, travellers’ recognition of the uniqueness and quality of our offerings is extremely valuable, and having three of Tofino’s properties ranked in the top 25 in Canada is a remarkable achievement,” said Kirsten Soder, general manager of Tourism Tofino.

Located on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, Tofino is bounded by the open Pacific Ocean, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

A year-round travel destination, Tofino is known for its kilometres of sandy beaches, variety of accommodations and dining options, award-winning restaurants specializing in boat-to-table cuisine, and adventures including whale watching, saltwater and freshwater fishing, surfing, kayaking, boating, hiking, and winter storm watching.

“TripAdvisor is once again thrilled to recognize the world’s most outstanding hotels with the help of more than 75 million reviews and opinions from travellers around the globe,” said Christine Petersen, president, TripAd-visor for Business.
